Royal Wedding 2011

Okay, I made it out of bed and to the computer. I've watched 45 minutes of coverage so far, mostly on NBC (switching to BBC America when Meridith and Matt get to sickly sweet, which has happened...)

I've seen the David and Victoria Beckham arrive, and Chelsy Davy, who is Prince Harry's on-again, off-again girlfriend. Girlfriend needs to stay out of the sun and take care of herself, she's only like 25, and looks like she is pushing a few decades more.

Now I'm watching the hairstylists who are telling us they had to lock themselves in their office and cover the windows to practice on a model for days and days and days. They are doing the hair for the entire family and wedding party.

Ooh, Elton John and David Furnish! Elton is wearing a purple tie and yellow vest, but otherwise, pretty conservative for him.

Back to NBC, and they are talking about the fact that Tony Blair and Gordon Brown weren't invited to the wedding. Watching all the fancy dress the men are wearing, I would think they are happily sitting at home in their boxers, thanking their lucky stars.

Aw, William invited all twenty five members of the search-and-rescue team he works with! And they were surprised to be invited! (and probably a little irate they couldn't sit home in their boxers).

Lots and lots of hats. Only one or two women haven't had hats on that I've seen. Probably bloody Americans.

Okay, so they are guessing that the wedding gown is going to be Alexander McQueen. That probably means absolutely nothing to the rest of you, but that would be a really big deal, trust me. The House of Alexander McQueen is considered to be pretty avant garde - she won't be going down the aisle in garbage bags and spangles, but wearing something from that house is a HUGE FASHION STATEMENT. Seriously.

Okay, ending this post and continuing in the comments.

Okay, delivering people to the Abbey by tour coach. VIPs have started to arrive, and finding out their is sort of a backdoor that a lot of them are coming in that doesn't look nearly as crowded as the front door. Wait, is that the Salahis? Ha ha, just kidding, punch drunk (go Google them, folks).

Oh, purple dress lady isn't wearing a hat. Turn away, everyone, shame her.

Lots of color in the dresses. Oh, thanks, Martin - so, Westminster Abbey has been more associated with funerals then weddings in the past, but weddings have been making a comeback in the last 65 years or so. Of course, Princess Diana's funeral was here in 1997.

Okay, BBC America is back to speculating on the dress. One wants a big veil and a huge train on it. Issa was the designer of the engagement dress, and that's another possibility.

Okay, so the titles have been announced. Duke and Duchess of Cambridge; Earl and Countess of Strathearn; and Baron and Baroness of Carrickfergus. Now I'm taking a break, William and Harry are leaving Clarence House in five minutes. Oh, there is the prime minister! Ooh, his wife didn't wear a hat! For shame, for shame...

Correction - she is wearing something that appears to possibly be a hat, if you can take three bottle caps, crochet flowers over them, and stick them on the side of your head. I take back the shaming.

Aww, the bridesmaids are so adorable! The youngest is three! It's like having Lolo, McKenna, and Kennedy as bridesmaids! (Pause to think about shepherding these three into a church.)

And the little groomsmen are in red uniforms! Awwwww!

Waiting to hear about the dress designer. Her hair is down, full veil. Lace overlay top to the dress, a hint of cleavage (JUST a hint). Tiara, small bouquet.

Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen designed the dress. It's really gorgeous, the train is about ten feet. And she's entering the abbey, and now I'm going to sit back and watch the wedding.

Okay, they are married, getting their pictures taken, and will be out on the balcony in about 35 minutes. I'm going back to bed after that, and will talk to you all later!

You crack me up, Stacey! I'm watching the re-airing of it now, though probably not as closely as you did! (Dathan's not really interested in sitting here watching people stand around)

Holy smokes, you weren't kidding about updates. Hope it was fun. By the way, you never told me your menu, god dammit. Queen of empty promises, you are.
